“As Bright As Heaven,” a novel by by Susan Meissner, is set in Philadelphia during the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918. The Third Thursday Book Club at the Westerlo Library will discuss the book on Jan. 20.

January spice
The January spice is cocoa powder. Pick up a sample and three recipes at the library. This month’s recipes are Dairy Free Hot Chocolate, Old-Fashioned Hard Fudge, and Best Chili Ever.
STEAM Take-and-Make
January’s theme for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) take-and-makes is Winter Arts and Crafts. There are new kits every week. Homework help packets are still available too.
Trustees meet
The Westerlo Library Board of Trustees will meet Monday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. in the library. This meeting is open to the public.
