Voorheesville Library Notes for Wednesday, December 15, 2021
We’ll be discussing these books in January:

— Nonfiction Book Discussion - “Fifth Sum: A New History of the Aztecs” by Camilla Townsend, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., Jan. 10, community room;
— Kids’ Book Discussion - “Cam Jansen: The Snowy Day Mystery” by David Adler, 6:30 p.m., Jan. 21; and
— Family Book Discussion/Middle School Book Club - “How to Find What you’re Not Looking For” by Veera Hiranandani, 2 p.m., Jan. 30, community room.
Please register online each month for any of these book discussions. Limited copies of the book are available for $5, compliments of the Friends of the Library. Library copies will also be available for checkout and downloadable ebook and audiobook versions are on Overdrive.
Teen Time
Students in grade 6 and up are invited to stop by the library after school on Friday, Dec. 17. You can play games with friends, make something with our craft supplies, or just relax and unwind. Registration is required.
Teens Care
Students in grades 6 and up, with sewing machine experience, are invited to register for this baby blanket project. Unless circumstances dictate otherwise, this will be an in-person program, held at 1:30 p.m., Dec. 29, at the library. Community service certificates will be given to participants.
STEAM Adventures
Children ages 2.5 to 7 w/caregiver are invited to join Mrs. Brown and Miss Lisa at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29 for a fun morning of all things STEAM. A variety of science, technology, engineering, art, and math stations will be set up for families to enjoy and learn together. Please register as a family.
Museum passes
Are you looking for something fun and different that your whole family will enjoy? Check out your local library museum pass program. We have many free or reduced rate passes to area galleries and museums, such as: Norman Rockwell, The Clark Art Institute, Mass Moca, The Arkell Museum, The Hyde Collection to name just a few.
Check out the full list of available passes at www.voorheesvillelibrary.org. All of these sites offer an opportunity for great family outings, romantic getaways for couples, educational learning experiences, or just a fun day trip.
Passes are available to anyone with a valid library card on a first come, first served basis. Passes are checked out for three days and can be renewed once. Once you have a pass in hand, please be sure to call your destination at least a day in advance. Due to COVID, many museums now require appointments, or have special requirements.
Holiday hours
In observance of the Christmas holiday, the library will be closed Dec. 24 through Dec. 26. Regular hours will resume at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 27.
Curbside pickup is available during all open library hours.
Masks are required of all visitors over the age of two, regardless of vaccination status.
