Voorheesville Library Notes for Thursday, December 15, 2016

Join us at the Voorheesville Public Library on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. for our Adult Coloring Book Club. Each month we will provide different coloring sheets with multiple pages to choose from as well as a large selection of colored pencils, markers, and crayons.

The library community room will provide a welcoming environment with soothing music to help you relax and enjoy some you time. Supplies will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own.  

Winter family story time

Why not join Miss Amy for a morning of snow much fun? Register now for a Tuesday, Dec. 27 family story time. Our program, for preschool through grade two children and their families, starts at 10:15 a.m., when we warm up with some good books and a snow-themed craft, followed by hot chocolate and a yummy snack.

Kids’ movie matinee

Drop in on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 1:30 p.m. for our afternoon matinee. The friendly but forgetful blue tang fish begins a search for her long-lost parents, and everyone learns a few things about the real meaning of family along the way.

Light refreshments will be served. No registration needed. The movie is 95 minutes and it’s rated PG

Lego building

Drop in between 10:30 a.m. and noon on Thursday, Dec. 29 for Lego fun. We’ve got bricks for all ages and stages, toddlers to tweens. Everyone is welcome, No registration needed.

Teen time

Friday, Dec. 30, is all about teens. From 2 to 3:30 p.m., middle and high schoolers are welcome to hang out together, play geeky games, or make something, whether high-tech or low-tech. Use the Leap Motion, the 3D scanner or 3D printer with our laptops.

Tackle a building challenge in Minecraft, invent something with the littleBits electronics kits, or program our new Ozobots. Fabric and craft supplies will also be on hand if you want to use the sewing machines or create something handmade. There will be snacks. (Grades six and up, please register.)

Donation drive

This year the library is collecting donations for the New Scotland Food Pantry, with special emphasis on personal care items and pet items. Through Saturday, Dec. 31, bring in any personal care item or pet food/item to add to our bins.

Register

Registering for programs helps us to determine supply needs. Unless otherwise indicated, registration is requested for all programs. You may register in person, by phone at 765-2791 or by using our online calendar at http://voorheesvillelibrary.org/calendar.asp.

Cancellation

If the Voorheesville schools are closed or delayed by two hours due to weather, all library youth programs will be cancelled for the day. Call to check on adult afternoon or evening programs.
