Voorheesville Library Notes for Wednesday, December 4, 2019

Looking for a gift for someone special? Stop by and shop this weekend, at the Second Annual Friends of the Library Winter Boutique on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Friends will have an array of winter-themed items to purchase as well as jewelry, fancy frames, purses and wallets. and much more. There will be a wide range of new and gently-used items for purchase.

Saturday, the Friends will also be having a bake sale. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library, which helps offset costs of events and special purchases for the Voorheesville Public Library.

Drip-painting Mason jars

Have some messy fun making drip painted mason jars. This is an exciting, kid-friendly project, and makes a great holiday craft. Learn how to make one for yourself or for a gift. Grade 7 through adult, please register now for this 6:30 p.m. program, Thursday, Dec. 12.

Make your own doodle books

Children in grades 3 through 5 are invited to join local artist and teacher, Megan Viscio, for an afternoon of creative fun on Friday, Dec. 13, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. With just a few simple supplies, we will make a cute, and useful, little sketchbook, waiting to be filled with your creative ideas. Please register. 

Bus trip to New York City

Enjoy a day (7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Dec. 14) at one of New York’s most exciting holiday destinations and support the Library at the same time.

The cost of the bus trip is $50 for FOL members; $55 for non-members. Paid reservations are accepted at the circulation desk. Payment in advance is required; no seat is reserved until payment has been received. For more details please call the library.

Artist Reception

Local artists Diane Wozniak and Adam Wozniak would like to extend a public invitation to their Artist Reception, Dec. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. Diane and Adam will be displaying their work in the hall gallery during the month of December. Please be sure to stop by and meander through the gallery.

Second Sunday Film

Join us at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, for a classic contemporary holiday film about a New York Police officer who tries to save his wife and others taken hostage by German terrorists during a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles.

The 1998 film is rated R and runs for 2 hours and 12 minutes. Light refreshments will be served.

Trustees meet

The next board of trustees meeting will be Monday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. The public is always welcome!

Giving Tree

Bring hope and warmth to others! Help the Voorheesville Public Library decorate our Giving Tree with handmade or store bought mittens, scarves, hats, and socks. The library will be accepting donations from Dec. 1 through Jan. 13. All donations will be distributed to one or more local agencies that support children, families and adults who may not have the necessary winter outerwear.
