Teen Time is back! Students in grades 6 and up can take the bus to the Voorheesville Public Library after school on Friday, Oct. 18, from 3 to 5 p.m., to unwind, play games, use the laptops, or make something. Space on the bus is limited; please register.

Locked in the Library: Looking for Alaska

Students in grades 9 and up, please register and join us from 6  to 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18 for the novel “Looking for Alaska” by John Green. “First drink. First prank. First friend. First love. Last words.” Get a copy, read up, and join us to discuss before the debut of the Hulu adaptation. Dinner will be served. 

Ceramic Tile Painting with Alcohol Inks

Join us from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 19 to make a unique, free-form decorative ceramic tile painting using alcohol inks. Basic application techniques will be demonstrated and different effects will be explored.

This is a fun and easy art form that does not require any artistic ability. You will be amazed at the results. Minimum age 10. Adults of all ages are welcome. All materials will be supplied, including a small easel to display your creation. It is suggested that you wear an old shirt, apron or smock. Please register.

“Le Voyage Dans La Lune”

Stop by the library from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 20, to hear the featured bands who composed an original score to Georges Melies’s 1902 silent film “Le Voyage Dans la Lune” (A Trip to the Moon). Light refreshments will be served.10

Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s and other dementias cause changes in memory, thinking and behavior that interfere with daily life. Join us to learn about 10 common warning signs and what to watch for in yourself and others

There are two one-hour sessions to choose from: Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m.; or Monday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m.. Please register for either class.

Halloween Spooktacular​ Family Story Time

The whole family is welcome at a not-so-scary Halloween storytime, Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Join Miss Amy and Miss Lisa for some frightfully good, not-so-spooky tales and songs.

We will parade through the library and enjoy a mini-celebration and craft befitting the holiday. Come in costume if you’d like. Ages 2 to 7 with caregiver; please register.

Candle-making

Learn how to make your own beeswax candles! Class will run from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3. Make one for yourself and a friend. Supplies provided to make two candles to take home. Age 10 through adults, please register.

Trustees meet

The next Voorheeaville LibraryBoard of Trustees meeting will be at 7 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 28. The public is always invited.
