Pharmacists from the Voorheesville Hannaford Pharmacy will administer flu immunizations on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. Please stop in or call the library information desk at 518-765-2791 to schedule a specific time slot. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Flu Shots are free with most insurance. If you are unsure of your policy requirements, the Voorheesville Hannaford can pre-check your insurance at the store at your convenience.  

Home canning

Have you always wanted to make your own pickles, jams, or flavored vinegar?

Join Karen Roberts Mort on Thursday, Oct. 11, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., to learn the basics of safe dehydrating, pickling, preserving, canning, and freezing. Participants will sample products and make a project to take home.

Second Sunday Film

Join us on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. for the 1931 version of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” starring Boris Karloff. The 70-minute film is not rated. Popcorn and snacks will be served.

Microsoft Windows 10

Windows 10 is set to be the “last version of Windows,” so now is a great time to learn it. Please register for this overview of the new Microsoft operating system.

We will start at the sign-in screen, explore new features, and even take a quick look under the hood at the control panel. Participants can bring their own devices or use one of the Library’s laptops.

Please register for either 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, or for 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Upcycled candle holder

Adults and teens in grade 6 and up, are invited to register for this Thursday, Oct. 18, program to learn how to upcycle old mason jars into votive candle holders using paper decoupage. All supplies will be provided; just bring your creativity! Program starts at 6:30 p.m.

DIY Frankenstein

Students in grades 3 to 8, with a caregiver, are invited to register for this Sunday, Oct. 21, program. Use your own drawing or a photo to make an electronic monster operation game.

Using LEDs, wires, buzzers, and more; each family will create its own personalized game at the library, and then take it home. Supplies will be provided, no electronic experience necessary.

Join the Library Expedition

Visit as many of the 36 Upper Hudson Library System libraries as you can during the months of September through November. Enjoy the self-guided road trip after picking up the map/passport at the Voorheesville Public Library. You’ll earn prizes when you’ve visited 5, 15, 25, and 36 locations.

Build a Future City

The Library is forming a team for this year’s Future City Competition. Future City is a project-based learning program for middle school students interested in imagining, researching, designing and building cities of the future.
