Kids clothing swap

Saturday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is your chance to exchange your child's outgrown clothes for something he or she can wear. Bring your clean, gently used children's winter clothes and shoes/boots to the Library for our community kids clothing swap. If you just want to donate clothes, as opposed to swapping them, we will be accepting donations Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 14 and 15, during regular library hours.

Discussion

The library welcomes Dennis Sullivan on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m., for a historical presentation of the life and work of Thomas Merton, a Trappist monk considered by many as the most important spiritual writer of the 20th Century.  Dennis’ paper, The Courage “To Be That Self One Truly Is”: Thomas Merton’s Unrelenting Journey To Recover Paradise On Earth, will be available at the library. This will be a very relaxed, informative program, with Dennis leading the conversation. There will be ample time for audience participation and discussion. Coffee and dessert will be served. Please register.

Run and walk

The Village Animal Clinic, located across the road from the library, will be holding their 5K run and walk at 10:00 am on Sunday, Sept. 18. Dogs are welcome and encouraged to participate in the run. All dogs must be leashed at all times and be sociable with other dogs and people. Please do not use retractable leashes. You can register online at www.zippyreg.com. You can also register in person at the Animal Clinic. All proceeds of the 5K run/walk will be donated to Guilderhaven, Inc., a nonprofit that helps the animal community. Please join in after the race for an awards ceremony, refreshments, food, music, entertainment, and of course, the Friends of the Library $2 a bag book sale.
