Voorheesville Library Notes for Friday, September 9, 2022
Now that the Summer Reading Program has concluded, the Thursday Afternoon Movies are back on the schedule, as of Sept. 8. Join us for a classic movie and some classic movie trivia, starting at 1 p.m., every Thursday. Come a few minutes early to save a seat, grab some snacks and a drink, and chat with your fellow movie lovers.
The library now has assistive listening devices available, which work in conjunction with our audio equipment, to make hearing dialogue easier. Check our online calendar, or call 518-765-2791, to see what is playing this week.
Bead Creative
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make beaded jewelry? Then this is the class for you! There is no experience needed. You don’t need to own any supplies or tools. Just register online, and then join us at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the library. You choose what you want to make, and we’ll help you to make it. This program is open to students in grades 9 and up, and adults.
Inside the Green Lobby
There is no registration needed for this author talk and book signing, 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15. Join veteran environmentalist and author, Bernard C. Melewski, as we discuss his book “Inside the Green Lobby: The Fight to Save the Adirondack Park”. Copies of the book will be available to purchase at the event. Light refreshments will be served.
Live concert
Join us 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15 for “The Evidence”, a duo of musicians with an eclectic mix of jazz, blues, pop, and rock tunes. Rob Aronstein and Mike Derrico have been working together since the mid 1980’s, and cover tunes from James Taylor, The Grateful Dead, British Invasion groups, as well as many others. Co-Sponsored by the Music Performance Trust Fund and Voorheesville Public Library, arranged by the Albany Musicians Association

The Great Give Back
Every year, the library does a community-wide donation drive. This year, we will be supporting “Sleep in Heavenly Peace,” a volunteer organization that builds beds for kids (ages 3 to 17) who are sleeping on the floor.
From Sept. 15 through Oc. 15, the library will be collecting new (in original packaging) twin sheet sets, comforters, and pillows. Children’s or teen-themes are appropriate, as are solid colors. In addition, we’ll also be collecting funds to build beds. For more ways to be involved, visit www.shpbeds.org. Thank you in advance, for your generosity.
