The Great Give Back
Every year, the library does a community wide donation drive. This year, we will be supporting “Sleep in Heavenly Peace”. SHP is a volunteer organization that builds beds for kids (ages 3-17) who are sleeping on the floor.
From Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, the library will be collecting new (in original packaging) twin sheet sets, comforters, and pillows. Children’s or teen-themes are appropriate, as are solid colors. In addition, we’ll also be collecting funds to build beds. For more ways to be involved, visit www.shpbeds.org. Thank you in advance, for your generosity.
Inside the Green Lobby
There is no registration needed for this author talk and book signing, 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15. Join veteran environmentalist and author, Bernard C. Melewski, as we discuss his book “Inside the Green Lobby: The Fight to Save the Adirondack Park”. Copies of the book will be available to purchase at the event. Light refreshments will be served.
Live concert
Join us 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15 for “The Evidence,” a duo of musicians with an eclectic mix of jazz, blues, pop, and rock tunes. Rob Aronstein and Mike Derrico have been working together since the mid-1980s, and cover tunes from James Taylor, The Grateful Dead, British Invasion groups, as well as many others. This concert is funded by the Music Performance Trust Fund, arranged by the Albany Musicians Assoc., Local 14, AFM. Also co-sponsored by the Jim Clark Community Performance Fund.
Holiday hours
The library will be closed from Saturday, Sept. 3 through Monday, Sept. 5, in observance of Labor Day. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, September 6.
