On Monday, Aug. 19, at 1:30 p.m., enjoy the magical animated adventure James and the Giant Peach rated PG based on a terrific children’s book written by Roald Dahl at the Voorheesville Public Library. James and the Giant Peach tells the story of a young boy’s journey and his unforeseen encounters with human-sized insects and a juicy, giant peach.
Body image workshop
Attention girls grades 7 and up, on Thursday, Aug, 22, at 6 p.m., join us for this important workshop. Media messages tell girls what the perfect body is, but reality is that everyone is different. Diane Blinn, clinical social worker and Pat Barber, manager and personal trainer at Gold’s Gym will help girls accept their bodies the way they are and promote the idea that true beauty comes from inside. Nutritious snacks will be served. Moms are welcome.
Sustainable energy show
On Monday, Aug. 26, at 6:30 p.m., join in for an evening of educational fun as Jeff Boyer explains green energy sources of the future. The 2013 Summer Reading Program ends with the announcement of grand prize winners and distribution of prizes to top readers in each age category.
Together at Twilight Finale
Come enjoy the music at the library for our final 2013 Together at Twilight concert on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 6:30 p.m. The Katsura Band is a four piece group of professional musicians who deliver generations of music styles from rock to alternative, folk and rock/pop, as well as their own original songs. This program will be presented rain or shine.
Book sale
In anticipation of our annual fall book sale, scheduled for Sept. 20 through 22, the library is now accepting book and dvd donations.
Museum passes
Are your kids bored? Borrow one of our museum passes and take them on a road trip. Drive over to Hancock Shaker Village or check out the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. The Berkshire Botannical Gardens are always lovely and the Bennington Museum is a fun day trip. Check out our website for a complete list of passes.
