Build memories and celebrate your accomplishments in the “One Thousand Books Before Kindergarten” program at the Voorheesville Public Library with stories, songs, dance, parachute play, and bubbles!

Preschoolers and their families are invited to join Miss Amy and Miss Gail at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, for a party for the whole family! Please register.

Upcycled bird feeders

Teens and adults are welcome to join us on Thursday, Aug. 15, at 6:30 p.m., to use your creativity and imagination to recycle/upcycle all manner of plastic bottles.

We will be creating bird feeders for use in your garden, or outside your kitchen window, or wherever you would like to hang it.  All materials will be provided. Please register.

Magic finale

Join magician and juggler Scott Jameson, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 20, for an extraordinary performance. Umbrellas will be plucked from thin air, a drawing will come to life, basketballs will be spun and juggled, and the audience will travel through time.

Top readers and grand-prize winners of the Summer Reading Program will be announced and prizes awarded. All ages welcome. No registration is required.

Kindergarten readiness

Children entering kindergarten, and their parents, are invited to join us on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 6:30pm, for a fun-filled and educational evening where the soon-to-be-kindergarteners can hone their kindergarten-readiness skills at activity/learning centers. Let’s celebrate this important and exciting milestone! Please register.

Oreo Taste-Test Challenge

Do you have what it — tastes? Join us on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 6:30 p.m. for an hour-long taste test. You will participate in a blind taste test challenge by sampling a variety of Oreo cookie flavors, then vie for the coveted title of "Oreo Cookie Flavor Champ" by guessing what the flavors are.

The one who gets the most answers correct wins! We will also rate the seasonal offerings to declare a “Best in Show.” For a proper “cleansing of the palette” between tastes, milk and water will be supplied. Please register.

Encore! Books

Encore! Books hours are Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Thursdays, 3:30 to 7 p.m. All donations will be accepted at the sheds during open hours or by appointment. To schedule an appointment, please email the FOL at . The fall book sale date is Sept. 20 to 22.

Philosophers Group

People with opinions welcome to follow where the conversation lead. Always seeking talkers.Very casual. No homework! Drop in or call for information. Meets at 7 p.m., third Thursday of the month.
