Voorheesville Library Notes for Friday, July 20, 2018
Join us at the Voorheesville Public Library on Friday, July 20, for an animated, 2017 adventure-comedy. The Internet Movie Database describes the film like this: An aspiring musician named Miguel, when confronted with his family’s ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer.
The movie will start promptly at 1:30 p.m. and is rated PG. The movie lasts for 105 minutes. Popcorn and refreshments will be served. No registration is required.
Lois Miner Huey visits
Students entering grades five and up should register to meet New York State archeologist and author, Lois Miner Huey. Ms Huey will be discussing her thrilling nonfiction books on Thursday, July 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Books will be available for sale and author signing.
Lego Jr. Maker
Children entering kindergarten through third grade, and a parent or caregiver are invited to join us at 1:30 p.m, on Friday, July 27, to put some bricks together and build! Get inspired by reading about building and creativity, then make whatever you’d like.
This creative program will foster problem-solving skills and encourage storytelling. Please register.
Maker Faire
Interested in seeing what local folks are making? Visit the Maker Faire from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. Saturday, July 28! Exhibitors include Handmade by Aly Parrott, among other artists and creative minds. The Emack & Bolio’s Ice Cream Truck will visit to make everyone happy.
Our Maker Week students will show off their projects, and teach you how to make something. Open to all, school-age to adult; no registration necessary.
Pig Out on Reading
We will be going hog wild at the library on Monday, July 30! Join our friend, Farmer Minor; his beloved pig, Daisy; and their pug pals to hear about life on the farm and about Daisy’s travels.
Pucker up and get ready to give Daisy a big smooch or just a friendly pat. Pigs and pugs love to share the joy of reading. The fun starts at 6:30 p.m. People of all ages are welcome. No registration is required.
Wozniak’s work on display
A well known and much loved area artist, Diane Wozniak will have her outstanding artwork displayed at the library all month. Diane enjoys painting local scenes, including many in and around Voorheesville.
Having grown up in Voorheesville, she paints many local scenes that are near and dear to her heart. Please be sure to stop by the library during July, and wander through the gallery.

The Friends of the Voorheesville Library want to be sure you have heard about the Community Bags available for purchase at the Voorheesville Hannaford during the month of July.
