Parents or caregivers and their children in grades one through three are invited to explore the benefits of a shared “reading together” experience at the Voorheesville Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 16.
Join us for an evening of book-related activities as we discuss “Miguel and the Grand Harmony,” the charming picture book adaptation of the film “Coco.” Please register and pick up a copy of the book.
Essential Oils for Children
We welcome moms, dads, and grandparents to join us at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17 for doTerra essential-oil class, presented by Karen Chanel. We will be focusing on immunity, sleep, calming, and much, much more!
Digitize Your music
Students in grades seven and up are invited to join us on Wednesday, July 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. to learn how to record and create digital music. Bring your own instrument, acoustic or electronic, you can also sing, if that’s your thing.
Musician and sound technician Keith Rivers will introduce you to tools for both Apple computers and PCs, then help you record your unique sound. Please register.
Kids’ Movie Matinee
Join us on Friday, July 20 for an animated, adventure-comedy about an “aspiring musician named Miguel, who, when confronted with his family’s ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer,” according to the Internet Movie Database.
The movie, rated PG, will start promptly at 1:30 p.m. and run for 105 minutes. Popcorn and refreshments will be served. No registration is required.
Huey visits
Students entering grades five and up should register to meet New York State archeologist and author, Lois Miner Huey. Ms. Huey will be discussing her thrilling nonfiction books on Thursday, July 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Books will be available for sale and author signing.
Lego Jr. Maker Event
Children entering kindergarten through third grade, and a parent or caregiver are invited to join us at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, July 27, to put some bricks together and build. Get inspired by reading about building and creativity, then make whatever you’d like.
This creative program will foster problem-solving skills and encourage storytelling. Please register.
July Artist at the Library
A well known and much loved area artist, the library is pleased to display some of Diane Wozniak’s outstanding artwork. Diane enjoys painting local scenes, including many in and around Voorheesville.
She grew up in Voorheesville, and many of the scenes are near and dear to her heart. Please be sure to stop by the library during July, and wander through the gallery.
