It’s official! ENCORE! Books is now open Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Thursdays, 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. All donations will be accepted at the sheds during open hours or by appointment. To schedule an appointment, please email the FOL at . The fall book sale date is Sept. 20 to 22.

Red Cross Blood Drive

The library will be hosting the American Red Cross for a community blood drive, from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 25. Please consider stopping by to donate.

Adult Summer Reading Bingo

Looking for a good summer reading challenge? Have some fun and participate in the library’s Bingo for Adults. Stop by Voorheesville Public Library beginning June 24 and pick up your weekly color themed BINGO card. New challenges available each week. Once you have BINGO (5 squares across, down, or diagonally) bring your card to the library for your prize. Adult Summer Reading BINGO ends on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 10 a.m. with our Mug and Muffin Social. Just bring a mug and we will provide the muffins. We will discuss our summer adventures.

Jester Jim and Ice Cream Social

Help the library kick-off the 2019 Summer Reading Program (SRP) with Jester Jim and an Ice Cream Social. This event will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 27 at The First United Methodist Church in Voorheesville. Jester Jim brings his fast-paced juggling show, filled with laugh-out-loud antics as the perfect uproarious entertainer to kick-off the “Universe of Stories” theme for this years SRP. Make your own sundaes are generously supplied by Stewart’s Shops and will be available after the show.

Butterfly Conservation Program

What does it take for a caterpillar to become a beautiful butterfly? Find out at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 28 as Lynn Sprague, from Winterberry Homestead, will present an engaging educational program to answer this very question. We are excited to have a solarium at the Library for 6 weeks to show the amazing progression from chrysalis, then caterpillar to butterfly. It will contain host plants and butterfly eggs, and we encourage you to return to the library regularly to view the progress of caterpillars, chrysalis hatching, and butterflies within the solarium! The butterflies will be released during the Environmental Exploration Week the beginning of August.  For ages Kindergarten through adult. Please register.

Chasing the Moon PBS Documentary Screening

We invite you to a screening of the PBS documentary “Chasing the Moon” at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 1. This summer marks the 50th anniversary of man landing on the moon with the Apollo11 mission! PBS American Experience's “Chasing the Moon” relives the journey that defined a generation. Let's commemorate this important anniversary. Light refreshments served.
