Voorheesville Library Notes for Friday, June 16, 2017
It sure is fun to get messy, but it is just as fun to get clean. Join Miss Amy on Saturday, June 17 at 10:30 a.m. as she shares messy and clean books. Children ages 2 to 7 will explore messy and clean fun through hands-on sensory activities. Come dressed for mess.
Crazy Craft Day
The youth services department has a closet full of leftover craft projects that are just looking for someone to make and take. Children ages 3 to 8 are invited to stop in between 10 and 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27 to make one or more crafts from a wide assortment of art activities. No registration necessary.
Creativity Lab
With some basic sewing skills and a little science knowledge, you can create a tiny teddy bear with a heart that really lights up. On Tuesday, June 27 at 7 p.m., students in grades seven and up can learn the basics of sewing with conductive thread and LEDs to complete a circuit.
Kids’ movie matinee
Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp, a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend. The movie will start at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28. Light refreshments will be served. This movie is rated PG and runs 104 minutes.
Teen volunteer orientation
Just a quick reminder that all students who have signed up as volunteers for the summer reading program must attend the mandatory orientation on Friday, June 16 at 4:30 p.m. They should bring their summer calendars so they can be scheduled for available dates. For more information, please contact Debbie Sternklar at the library or email teens@voorpl.org.
Maker week
We still have some openings for Maker Week, which will run from July 10 to July 14, 2 to 4:30 p.m. with the availability of extended care, if needed. Students in grades five through eight will be offered a series of creative projects that introduce the basics of circuitry, coding, crafting, and engineering.

ENCORE! Books will be open on Tuesday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weather depending.
