Voorheesville Library Notes for Friday, June 9, 2017
The library now has a bike fix-it station, located on the lower lawn off Prospect Street. The station includes all the tools necessary to perform basic bike repairs and maintenance, from changing a flat to adjusting brakes and derailleurs. The bike can be hung from the hanger arms on the fix-it, allowing the pedals and wheels to spin freely while making adjustments. The fix-it station is available for public use 24/7.
Story time fairy tales
Following a short storytime at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 13, parents and children aged 2 to 5 will explore and play at different stations using hands on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math, building not only their reading skills, but also their STEAM skills, too. Stations include: build a bridge for the “Three Billy Goats Gruff,” plant a beanstalk for Jack, “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” art, “Princess and the Pea” counting mat, and “Can the Big Bad Wolf blow it down?” experiment.
Messy and clean story time
It sure is fun to get messy, but it is just as fun to get clean. Join Miss Amy on Saturday, June 17 at 10:30 a.m. as she shares messy and clean books. Children ages 2 to 7 will explore messy and clean fun through hands-on sensory activities. Come dressed for mess.
Museum passes
The next time you are looking for something to do with the kids, maybe a trip to Hancock Shaker Village would be fun? Or, there is Ventfort Hall, in Lenox MA; miSci in Schenectady; MASS Moca in North Adams, MA; Iroquis Indian Museum in Howes Cave, NY; Hildene in Manchester, VT or The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, MA. These are just a few of the passes available to you at your local library. All of these destinations are an easy day trip from Voorheesville.
Crazy craft day
The youth services department has a closet full of leftover craft projects that are just looking for someone to make and take! Children ages 3 to 8 are invited to stop in between 10 and 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27 to make one or more crafts from a wide assortment of art activities. No registration is needed.
