Learn how to craft a lovely floral bouquet from tissue papers at the Voorheesville Public Library on Saturday, May 11, at 10:30 a.m. These bouquets are perfect gifts for Mother’s Day or for spring and summer birthdays.

All materials will be supplied, including a colorful vase in which to display your pretty flowers. This hands-on workshop, taught by local artist Lydia Lynch, is for anyone 8 or older but all children must be accompanied by an adult. Please register.

Second Sunday Film

Please join us at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, for a special 2018 film.

According to the Internet Movie Database, it is “an exploration of the life, lessons, and legacy of iconic children’s television host, Fred Rogers.”

Light refreshments will be served. The movie is rated PG-13 and runs for one hour and 34 minutes.

Protecting privacy online

On Wednesday, May 15, at 3 p.m. or 6 p.m., you will learn how to choose privacy!

We will discuss what gets shared about us when we use the internet, and we will learn tools and strategies to help keep our information private. Participants are welcome to use one of the Library’s laptops, but will be better served by bringing their own computers. Please register for one of these classes.

Paint and Sip

Come join in the fun at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 16! No painting experience is needed.

The instructor will take you through step by step. Everything you need is provided to complete a 9-by-12-inch acrylic painting that you can bring home and proudly hang on a wall. The painting will be of dragonflies. Mocktails and desserts will be served.

Sue Sheridan, a Voorheesville resident artist, has been conducting group painting classes for three years. She was awarded Staff Favorite for a sculpture at the 2018 Fence Show at The Art Center in Troy and spends much of her time in creating mixed media from repurposed items. The session is for those ages 16 and up; please register.

May Magic

Magic the Gathering is the world’s most popular strategy card game. During a match, players cast devastating spells, summon creatures of legend, and wield powerful artifacts to best their opponents in a battle of wits.

Join the fun at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18. Free decks are available for beginners, come learn to play! Already know how? Come find new opponents. All ages, please register.

World War II Stories through Sketches

Join author and animator William H. Frake III at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, for a discussion about his published collection — “A Moment and A Memory” — of illustrated stories of World War II friends and acquaintances.

Mr. Frake has gathered these “memories” from the men and women who experienced these “moments” as World War II veterans. Several of the World War II veterans featured will be in attendance. Books will be available for sale. Please register.
