Voorheesville Library Notes for Thursday, April 30, 2020

“Imagine Your Story” at the Voorheesville Public Library! We are excited to offer a summer reading program where we will read, create, and learn together as individuals, families, and as a community.

We are imagining something entirely new for the summer of 2020. Be on the lookout as we unveil this summer’s program very soon. Check the library's website for up to date details.

Reusable grocery bags

The Friends of the Voorheesville have been selected to receive funds in May from reusable bag purchases at the Voorheesville Hannaford. If you are out and about doing your grocery shopping at our local Hannaford, please consider purchasing a reusable bag to help support the Friends of the Voorheesville Library. If you don’t plan to be out grocery shopping, please consider a direct donation to your local Friends of the Library.

3D Printing

The Voorheesville Public Library is working with the University at Albany College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity group to 3D print frames for protective face shields much needed for health-care workers on the front lines. Each frame contains three parts and, besides set-up time, it takes a total of 63 minutes and 57 seconds to print one. To date, we have printed 65 frames, about eight per day.

Hoopla

Hoopla is a new digital media service offered by the Voorheesville Public Library. Hoopla allows you to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, e-books, comics, and TV shows instantly. There is no need to wait for a title to become available. All titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded to phones or tablets, to enjoy offline at your convenience. Check it out at www.voorpl.org. You’ll need to create a free account, using your Voorheesville Library card.

Library from Home

We have a new page on our website called “Library from Home.” It’s a wonderful resource for all of the students and parents now at home, distance learning. There are links to resources, projects, and more for all of your educational needs.
