Brick, Bits, & Bots: Drop by the Voorheesville Public Library at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 26, for an open program with Lego bricks for all ages. You can also program the Ozobots or build an invention with the littleBits. No registration is necessary.
Tween/Teen Movie Time
Kids in grades 4 through 8 are invited to this 1:30 p.m. matinée on Friday, April 26.
“The magical, spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis, who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. Adapted from a children's classic by John Bellairs,” says the Internet Movie Database.
The film is rated PG, and runs for 105 minutes. Popcorn and snacks will be served. No registration is needed.
Family Literacy Story Time
The coral reefs are an amazing underwater ecosystem teeming with brilliant fish and other aquatic life. Join Barbara Lukas from WMHT, at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, April 27, as she presents a fun and educational program about the coral reefs.
Children will enjoy a story and short educational video about coral reefs and make their own take home coral reef. Each child will receive a copy of National Geographic Kids: Coral Reef. For children ages 2 through grade 2 with families. Please register.
Pete Seeger Centennial Program
Join us at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, for a very special multimedia lecture and question-and-answer session to celebrate the centennial birthday of beloved folk legend Pete Seeger.
Noted music writer Jesse Jarnow, author of “Wasn’t That a Time: The Weavers, the Blacklist and the Battle for the American Soul,” presents a program enhanced by photo projections and music.
The program also features the talents of musician Michael Eck and friends. It’s presented in partnership with the Empire State Plaza performing Arts Center.
Medicare 101
If you are enrolled in Medicare or are soon to be enrolled, you may have questions.
Janey Kiffney, a certified Medicare Counselor with New York State's Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program will present a two-part program on Medicare at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 6.
Please note this is a two-part program and will meet again Monday, May 13 at 10 a.m. Please register to attend both sessions.
Screen-Free Week
Please be sure to check out our online calendar, or stop by the library, for information about Screen-Free Week happenings. The library is partnering with several other community groups to hold events that do not revolve around a smart phone or computer terminal.
To start off the week, drop in at the Elementary Playground, Monday, April 29 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., for a family fun night. We will be having an evening of outdoor play, story time, STEM stations from Leiana Hawkins of Springboard Experiences, and a visit from Emack & Bolio’s Ice Cream Truck.
No registration is needed.
