Voorheesville Library Notes for Friday, April 22, 2016

Drop in at the Voorheesville Public Library on Monday, April 25, between 10:30 a.m. and noon for an open-to-all Lego building event. From toddlers to tweens, we’ve got bricks for all ages and stages. No registration needed.

Movie matinee

Join everyone’s favorite good guy, Charlie Brown, as he embarks on a heroic quest, while his beagle pal, Snoopy, takes to the skies to pursue his arch nemesis, the Red Baron. This matinee will start at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 25. All ages welcome. Light refreshments will be served The movie is rated G and runs 89 minutes.

Steam story time

On Tuesday, April 26 at 10:15 a.m., following a short story time, parents and children will explore and play at different stations using hands on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math, building not only their reading skills but their STEAM skills too. Stations include: Build a playdough flower, carrot painting, seed sorting, sensory table play garden, growing a bean seed, and flower petal counting. For preschool through age 5. Please register.

Crazy craft day

The youth services department has a closet full of leftover craft projects that are looking for someone to make and take. Drop in from 10 a.m. to noon, on April 27, to make crafts from a wide assortment of art activities. For ages 3 to grade three; no registration is necessary

Scratch programming

On Wednesday, April 27, tweens and teens in grades four and up will design their own games in Scratch, a block-based programming language. John Love will provide instruction from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Please register as equipment is limited

Beginning beading

Learn easy beading techniques on Thursday, April 28, at 5:30 p.m. Mothers and grandmothers are encouraged to bring a child or grandchild to bead along with them since it is spring vacation.  For grade six up to adults. Please register and there will be a small materials fee.

Name that animal

Jessica Loy, local author of “Weird & Wild Animal Facts,” will be paying a special visit to the library on Friday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m. Jessica will lead the children in playing a game to see if they can guess which interesting facts go with which animal. The program will conclude with an art project that will give the children an opportunity to create their own weird and wild animals.For grades one to three. Space is limited so please register early.
