Kids will flock to the Voorheesville library on Wednesday, April 24, to learn about sheep.

The Voorheesville Public Library will be closed on Sunday, April 21, in observance of Easter. Regular hours will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 22.

Kids’ Movie Matinee

Children of all ages are invited to drop in on Monday, April 22 at 1:30 p.m. for a movie matinee.

The film is described by the Internet Movie Database this way: “A working-class family man, Christopher Robin, encounters his childhood friend, Winnie-the-Pooh, who helps him to rediscover the joys of life.” The 2018 film is rated PG, and runs for 104 minutes.

Popcorn and refreshments will be served. No registration is required.

Superhero Party Family Story Time

Do you love PJ Masks and want to be like a superhero?

Join us at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23 for a superhero celebration with stories about being super and PJ Masks games and activities. Get ready to show your superpowers!  For ages 3 to7 and families. Please register.

Creativity Lab

On Tuesday, April 23, you can use the library’s sewing machines to make a simple drawstring bag to carry your stuff in style! Join us at 2:30 p.m. and you’ll be assisted in measuring, cutting, pressing and sewing by the experienced members of the Nimblefingers group.

All supplies will be provided; just bring your creativity! Open to students in grades 5 to 8; please register.

Sheep Shearing and Wool Spinning

Join us at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, to learn how shepherds care for sheep from lamb to ewe, and watch one of the flock lose its fleece for spring.

Make a drop spindle, and spin the wool right from the sheep! Join Lynn Sprague from Winterberry Farm. Everyone will receive a spindle and wool, to continue spinning at home. For grades 2 and up with families. Please register.

Your Family Song

There’s no better way to celebrate family than with music. Even better is having an original song all about you!

No musical background or talent is needed. Join experienced songwriter Rebecca Maxwell at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, for a Mad-Libs style of writing. Everyone will walk away with a song all about what makes your family unique.

This program is for children in grades kindergarten and up, with families. Please register.

Brick, Bits, & Bots

Drop by at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 26 for an open program with Lego bricks for all ages. You can also program the Ozobots or build an invention with the littleBits. No registration necessary.

Tween/Teen Movie Time

Kids in grades 4 through 8 are invited to this 1:30 p.m. matinée on Friday, April 26, the Internet Movie Database describes this way: “The magical, spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis, who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. Adapted from a children’s classic by John Bellairs.”

The film is rated PG, and runs for 105 minutes. Popcorn and snacks will be served. No registration is needed.
