Voorheesville Library Notes for Thursday, April 16, 2020

The Voorheesville Public Library is closed. We are scheduled to be closed until the end of April but, as we have all seen over the past few weeks, circumstances change quickly. Please be sure to check our website for the most up-to-date information. Just type voorpl.org into your browser address window, hit enter, and you’re there.

Census 2020

Have you done your 2020 Census yet? Not only is it required by law, but it will now be even more important that every person in our villages and towns be counted, so resources can be more equitably distributed.

You can complete the census online at https://my2020census.gov, by phone 1-844-330-2020, or, if you received a mailer, just fill it out and return by mail. If you have any questions, our librarians are still answering emails at during regular business hours.

Library from Home

We have a new page on our website called “Library from Home.” It’s a wonderful resource for all of the students and parents now at home, distance-learning. There are links to resources, projects, and more for all of your educational needs.

Bingo, library-style

Do you all remember the fun we had with library bingo last summer? Well, it's baaaack.

Some of the squares are pretty easy, like “have a dessert.” Who amongst us hasn’t been having dessert for breakfast? But some of the squares might make you work for it.

I’m not sure what the street date is for this, so be sure to watch our website at voorpl.org for details. You might even win a magnet.

Check it out

Your library card can be your ticket to many online resources. As many of you know, the Voorheesville Public Library is part of the Upper Hudson Library System.

What does that mean for you? It means that, not only do you have access to all of our online catalogue, you also have access to thousands of other titles as well. It’s easy to access and borrow these digital materials using Overdrive or Libby on your computer or mobile device.

You can check out up to 10 items and, if there is no waiting list, you can renew them each once. There are no late fees because, when they are due, they just disappear from your bookshelf.

Once you have downloaded Libby or Overdrive, all you need is your library card and a valid email address to get started. If you need a library card, you may apply online from our website and begin using it immediately.

No fines

The book drop is closed. Please hold on to your library materials. Due dates for all materials have been extended. Fines will not be charged during this closing. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Contact us via email at for help accessing digital services or for account questions. Librarians will be available to answer your emails during our regular business hours.

Please stay safe; stay home!
