Voorheesville Library Notes for Thursday, April 11, 2019
The Voorheesville Public Library is offering a class called “Digital Spring Cleaning: Android Edition.”
It’s time to dust out those hidden folders, delete old programs, and empty the trash (or recycling bin). Stop by one of the Monday afternoons in April, from 1 to 2 p.m. to clean up and speed up your digital devices with some routine maintenance.
April 15 is for iOS phones and tablets. Participants should bring their own devices. Please register.
Pilates Mat Class
Join us at 10:15 a.m., on Saturday April 13 for this free class, designed for beginners; no Pilates experience required. The instructor, Shannon McConnell, is a certified Pilates Mat instructor with the Exercise Safety Association and has been teaching classes for 10 years. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat or towel. For ages 14 to adult. Please register.
Consent 101
What is consent? What is sexual assault? How can you protect yourself? Where do you go for help? Find out at 2 p.m., on Sunday, April 14. A panel of experts will facilitate an interactive presentation for older teens and parents that will emphasize practical, hands-on skills and information to promote safety and independence.
For ages 16 and older, parents strongly encouraged to attend as well. Teen attendees will earn Community Service credit. As further incentive to students, participants will be entered into a drawing to receive the cost of their prom ticket refunded!
Please register. Co-sponsored by the Voorheesville Community Alliance for Healthy Choices, whose goal is to reduce and eliminate destructive choices.
Library closed
The library will be closed on Sunday, April 21, in observance of Easter. Regular hours will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 22.
April vacation
Stop by the Library for a week full of kids vacation programs, from April 22 through April 26. Monday is a kids movie matinee; Tuesday is a PJ Masks Superhero Party Family Storytime, and the afternoon offers a tween creativity sewing lab.
You won’t want to miss the sheep-shearing and wool-spinning program on Wednesday, for grades 2 and up. Thursday evening, children can create their own family song, and Friday morning there are bricks, bots, and bits for all ages.
Later in the afternoon, tweens and teens can drop in at 1:30 p.m. for a movie and refreshments. Be sure to check our online calendar or stop in to check out all the vacation programs we’ll be offering.
Tuesday Preschool Storytime
Join Miss Lisa at 10 a.m. on Tuesday mornings, for a theme-based, multi-age level storytime, with an emphasis on early literacy. Books, rhymes, songs, a short video, and an art activity comprise the program. Ages 2 to 5 with a caregiver; no registration required.
