Voorheesville Library Notes for Thursday, April 9, 2020

Well, the library is still closed. The governor has extended the lockdown until the end of April, which seems a long way off at this point.

All programs and meetings in the Library Community Room have been cancelled through April 30, including community reservations. If you had an event scheduled at the library, please be sure to inform your participants it has been cancelled or postponed.

Your local librarians, however, are still working hard to try to make this necessary isolation a little more bearable. Please check it out at www.voorheesvillelibrary.org. If you are not already following us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, you’re missing some fun stuff.

Your library card can be your ticket to many online resources. As many of you know, the Voorheesville Public Library is part of the Upper Hudson Library System.

What does that mean for you? It means that, not only do you have access to all of our online catalogue, you also have access to thousands of other titles as well. It’s easy to access and borrow these digital materials using Overdrive or Libby on your computer or mobile device.

You can check out up to 10 items and, if there is no waiting list, you can renew them each once. When you place a request for items, they can be automatically checked out to you when they become available.

There are no late fees because, when they are due, they just disappear from your bookshelf. Once you have downloaded Libby or Overdrive, all you need is your library card and a valid email address to get started.

We have a new page on our website called “Library From Home.” It’s a wonderful resource for all of the students and parents now at home, doing distance learning. There are links to resources, projects, and more for all of your educational needs.

For those children who miss story time and library tots story hour, there is now a video of Mrs. Brown doing story time from her living room. You can be sure that she (like all of us) would much rather be at the library doing story time but, when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. Stay home, and watch from the safety of your living room. Watch for more episodes from our talented crew.

The book drop is closed. Please hold on to your library materials. Due dates for all materials have been extended. Fines will not be charged during this closing. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Contact us via email at for help accessing digital services or for account questions. Librarians will be available to answer your emails during our regular business hours.

Please stay safe; stay home!
