Head over to the Voorheesville Public Library at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 6, for some thought-provoking brick-building. Get inspired by reading about building and creativity, then start putting bricks together to make whatever you’d like.
Parents and caregivers will join in this creative journey meant to foster problem-solving skills and encourage storytelling for students in kindergarten through second grade.
Make your own video game
Learn to make a two-player race-car video game from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 7.
Using Scratch, a free and accessible programming language developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab, students in grades 4 to 8 will be instructed by information-technology professional John Love. Please register early as space is limited.
Second Sunday Films
Join us on Sunday, April 8, at 2 p.m. for a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy.
Ravi Patel, an almost 30-year-old Indian American is caught in a love triangle between the woman of his dreams and — his parents. Check the library calendar for upcoming movie titles. Light refreshments will be served.
Yoga for teens and parents
Experience the benefits of yoga together! Teens in grades 7 and up with parents will learn to use movement, stillness, and breathing techniques to connect with their bodies and minds.
Practicing these tools will build a sense of both strength and calm you can bring into all areas of your lives. This one-hour class beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, will be taught by Janine Murphy. Beginners are welcome. Please register.
Adult coloring
The April coloring book club will be held on Wednesday, April 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. The library provides everything you will need to relax and enjoy some “me” time.
Fish for health
Presented by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Voorheesville and Karen Roberts Mort, this workshop covers the health benefits of including more fish in your diet, as well as safety concerns and sustainability issues.
Join us on Wednesday, April 18 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. as we prepare and sample some easy recipes that will make a fish lover out of you. Please register
Global tea-drinking
The tea plant is a simple bush with leaves, but each country has built custom, behavior, pomp, and circumstance around its version of imbibing the steeped marriage of tea and water.
From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., on Thursday, April 19, see how different countries have shaped their unique love affair with tea. Please register.
Family Story Time: Earth Day Celebration
On Saturday, April 20, children ages 3 to 7 with a parent or caregiver are invited to learn about Earth Day with Miss Amy. We will share stories about recycling, endangered animals, and different ways we can help our planet. The program will run from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Please register.
