Voorheesville Library Notes for Thursday, March 1, 2018

Take the bus to the Voorheesville Public Library for Teen Time after school on Friday, March 2, 16, and 23, to unwind, play games, or make something. Use SimCity, Scratch, the Leap Motion, 3D scanner, or 3D printer with our laptops.

Teach yourself Tinkercad or Sculptris, invent something with the littleBits electronics kits, or program the Ozobots. We have Sticker Circuits, paper, fabric and craft supplies available if you want to get creative. Open to students in grade 6 and up. Space on bus route is limited, please register.

AARP Defensive Driving

There is a $20 fee for AARP members (card must be shown) and $25 for non-members for this 6 hour defensive driving course. Payment is due at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, when class begins. Everyone must bring their driver license.

There will be a 30-minute bring-your-own lunch break. Snow date is March 10. Please register early.

Beading workshop

Every month the library holds a beading workshop, where you can learn easy beading techniques for making simple jewelry, fix a favorite piece, or use some of your old pieces to make a new piece.

This month, we will meet on Thursday, March 8, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. There is a small materials fee depending on which project you choose. Stop by anytime during the workshop that fits your schedule.

Second Sunday Films

Join us at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 11 for a recent release, shown on our new theater system. Popcorn and snacks will be served. Check online or call the library for movie titles. The film starts promptly at 2 p.m.

Be a trustee

Nominating petitions are now available for Voorheesville residents interested in running for an open seat on the library board. Petitions may be obtained at the Voorheesville Library during regular library hours.

Museum passes

It is a great time of the year to take advantage of the museum passes available at your local library. Stop by the library or check out the full selection online. Passes cannot be reserved, so first-come, first-served.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library will hold their annual organizational meeting on Monday, March 27, from 7 to 9 p.m., in the library community room. Members are invited to attend to add their input for the upcoming year. New members are always welcome.
