Voorheesville Library Notes for Thursday, February 15, 2018

February is Nimblefingers Month at the Voorheesville Public Library. Come for an afternoon open house of demonstrations, friendship and refreshments on Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 1 to 3 p.m.

View antique quilts during a bed-turning and vote for your favorite entry in the design challenge. Meet people who love to talk about crafting and have lots of tips and experiences to share.

Even if you can’t come for the afternoon, please drop in during February to stroll through the gallery and community room to enjoy the wonderful crafts these ladies have displayed for your pleasure. Since other programs are also held in the library’s community room, check the calendar to plan your visit.

Kids’ Movie Matinee

Join us from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19, to watch the latest in the “Despicable Me” trilogy. Refreshments will be served. The movie is rated PG, and runs for 90 minutes. No registration is required.

“Cinderella in the Wild West”

Children in kindergarten through fifth grade and their families are invited as Robert Rogers Puppet Company entertain us with an evening of fairytale enchantment.

The hour-long show starts at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, and no registration is required.

Bricks and Blocks

Children in grades 3 to 7 are invited to register for our Friday, Feb. 23, build-anything session. With our Lego bricks, iPads, laptops, with Minecraft or SimCity programs, you can create anything that you can imagine, including stop-motion movies.

The program runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Teen Read-In

Teens in grades 6 and up are invited for a read-in from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23. Bring a comfy sleeping bag or blanket and a book or two from your to-be-read pile and meet up with other bookworms.

Museum passes

It is a great time of the year to take advantage of the museum passes available at your local library.

Some of the passes we have here at Voorheesville are The Albany Institute of History and Art, The Arkell Museum, The Bennington Museum, The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book, and MassMoca, just to name a few

Stop by the library or check out the full selection online.
