Voorheesville Library Notes for Wednesday, February 5, 2020
On Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, you are invited to join artist Lydia Lynch in making a Valentines plaque. We will embellish a small die-cut wood base with paper, decorative elements, and words of love to reflect the spirit of Valentine's Day.
All materials will be provided. This project is for people age 10 up through adult. Please register
Family Musical Movers
One of the talented instructors from our local dance, music, and yoga studio, Kind Performing Arts, will lead the children in a fun and interactive music and movement class from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 13. For infants to 4-years-old with a caregiver. Registration requested.
M&M Challenge
Do you consider yourself to be an M&M expert? Oh sure, you know the difference between regular and peanut M&M’s, but can you identify some of the more obscure flavors? Stop by the library at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, for a blind M&M taste test, and find out just how many flavors you will recognize. Please register.
Breakout Challenge
Families, teens, and adults are all welcome to try and solve the Breakout Challenge beginning at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 17. Form a team of 4 to 6 players and register to receive a 40 minute time slot, or sign up solo and we’ll group you with others.
Library closes early
In observance of Presidents Day, the library will be closing at 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17.
Elizabeth Zunon: “Grandpa Cacao”
Join us from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Feb. 18, as local author and illustrator Elizabeth Zunon shares the story of her grandfather in her most recent book, “Grandpa Cacao: A Tale of Chocolate, From Farm to Family.”
This beautifully illustrated story connects past and present as a girl bakes a chocolate cake with her father and learns about her grandfather harvesting cacao beans on the Ivory Coast of West Africa. Chocolate is the perfect treat everywhere!
Join us for an exciting morning that will include an interactive presentation, a hands-on activity, and chocolate sampling. This event is for preschoolers through third-graders and their families. Please register.
School-break programs
Check out our calendar for the upcoming February mid-winter school break. We have something for all ages and interests. We start off the week with a Bricks, Bits & Bots drop-in for children of all ages.
There are several meet the author events, which are always interesting and fun. There is a kids movie matinee mid-week, a creativity lab for tweens, and a program on creating a videogame using Scratch rounding out the week. There is always something to do at the library!
