Voorheesville Library Notes for Thursday, February 1, 2018

During February, visitors to the library can enjoy the Nimblefingers exhibit of distinctive handcrafts and quilts in our community room. Vote for your favorite design in the Nimblefingers Table Runner Challenge. Since programs are also held in the library’s community room, check the calendar to plan your visit.

Open house

Join the Nimblefingers for an afternoon of demonstrations, refreshments and friendship on Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. View antique quilts during a bed-turning and vote for your favorite entry in the table runner design challenge. Meet people who love to talk about crafting and have lots of tips and experiences to share.

Take Your Child to the Library Day

Come join us from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, for a luau dance party. We’ll be celebrating your family’s progress toward reading 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, so come prepared to dance!

We’ll play with beach balls, explore “sand” fun, pop bubbles and enjoy tropical treats. Giveaways will be part of the fun. For ages 12 months to 5 years, with a caregiver. Please register.

Beading Workshop

You can learn easy beading techniques when you join us anytime from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8. The library provides the tools and supplies for necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. A small materials fee will apply, depending on which project you choose. Adults and teens ages 14 and up should register in advance.

Second Sunday Films

Join us at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11 for the true story of Richard and Mildred Loving in the film “Loving.” A couple who were arrested for interracial marriage in 1960s’ Virginia and fought a legal battle that would end with the Supreme Court’s 1967 decision.

The film is rated PG-13 and runs for 123 minutes. Light refreshments will be served.

Adult Coloring Book Club

Join the Adult Coloring Book Club from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14. The club meets every month to relax, listen to some soothing music, and color. Come one time or come every month, your choice. Registration is requested, so we will be sure to have enough supplies on hand.
