Join our after-hours Locked in the Library teen book club from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, at the Voorheesville Public Library. This month we will discuss “Code Name Verity” by Elizabeth Wein.
Dinner will be served. The program is for kids in grades 9 and up; please register.
Beading workshop
Learn easy jewelry beading techniques, from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 7. The library provides tools and offers a variety of beads to choose from, or you are welcome to bring your own supplies and projects along.
Check out our beading books and magazines for inspiration. You may arrive at any time during the workshop that fits your schedule. Adults and teens ages 14 and up, please register. There will be a small materials fee, depending on the project you choose.
Open playtime
On Thursday, Jan. 10, from 9:45 to 11:15 a.m., little ones ages six to 36 months can enjoy some open playtime with their parents or caregivers and other babies and toddlers in the library’s large community room.
The library’s wonderful collection of age-appropriate toys will be set up. No registration is required.
Needle felting
Join instructor Alison Swanson from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, as she guides beginners in a wool needle felting project to create a cute cat. No experience necessary, supplies will be provided — just bring your creativity! Please register.
Winter Film Festival
Dennis Sullivan will be our host for the Second Annual Winter Film Festival. This year, Dennis has chosen four directors/films that focus on life, death, dance, and subversion.
Mark your calendars for Director Terry Jones, Jan. 16; Director Michael Haneke, Jan. 23; Federico Fellini, Jan. 30; and Director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, Feb. 13.
All programs will start at 6 p.m., with discussion and insights. Light refreshments will be served. Check the library calendar or call for film title. No registration needed.
Upcycling Crafts: Old CD’s
Join us from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, as we make bookends, coasters, or suncatchers using old CDs. If you have CDs (or DVDs) you no longer want or need bring them, but we will supply all the necessary materials. Please register.
Bricks, Bits, & Bots
We’ve got Lego bricks for all ages and stages, toddlers to tweens, everyone is welcome! Drop in anytime between 10:30 a.m. and noon, on Monday, Jan. 21, and enjoy building together.
You can also program the Ozobots or build an invention with the littleBits. No registration necessary.
Register

Snow delays
If the Voorheesville Schools are delayed by two hours due to weather, all morning youth programs will be cancelled. If school is cancelled, all youth programs for the day are cancelled. Call to check on adult afternoon or evening programs.
