Schoharie Library Notes for Wednesday, November 10, 2021

Schoharie Library hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays from noon to 7 p.m, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.                                               

In-person programs include:

— Teen Thursday@YourLibrary: Thursdays, 5 to 7 p.m. Share book & reading recommendations, play games, craft your own projects, more;

— Story Time with Miss Yvonne: Stories, songs, fun activities! Fridays at 10 a.m.;

— MiSci Celebration of James Webb Space Telescope launch: Wednesday, Nov. 17, 11 a.m.  Watch this virtual program on the big screen at the library! Most suitable for age 10 and up, all ages welcome;

— Knitcetera Club: Tuesdays, Nov. 23 at 10:30 a.m. Knit, crochet, sew, work on a project - beginners welcome; and

— MiSci: Crime Lab Science: Tuesday, November 30, 4pm. Learn about forensic science and how evolving technology helps scientists and detectives discover the truth about mysterious criminal cases. “Detectives in training” can participate in a mock investigation where they identify the main types of fingerprints, explore the science of chromatography, learn about DNA and how to extract it, and use all the evidence to identify the culprit. (Geared toward grades 3-8, all ages are welcome.)

— Writing for Resilience and Creativity: a Workshop in Expressive Writing: Saturday, November 13, 10 a.m. to noon on Zoom. Facilitator: Elaine Handley, Ph.D. Learn to use writing as a tool for coping, deeper insight and expression.

— Kids Gotta Cook: Monday, Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. Prepare something tasty at home with an online lesson from Cornell Cooperative Extension nutrition educator, Kimberly;

— Create a Grapevine Teardrop Wreath: Tuesday, Nov. 16, 4 p.m. Presented on Zoom by Sally Ziegler. Materials available at the Schoharie Library. Participants are welcome to join from home or meet at the library;

— UFO (Unfinished Object Club): Thursday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m.; and

— Tech Savvy: Navigating the Virtual Classroom: Thursday, Nov. 18, 6:30 p.m. For parents and caregivers of students using Google Classroom and Schoology. Keep track of assignments, activities, projects, and grades, communicate with teachers, gain an overview of what - and how - your child is doing.
