Schoharie Library Notes for Wednesday, September 11, 2019

Knitcetera Club will meet at the Schoharie Library on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m. Knit, crochet, embroider, quilt — join this fun, creative group, which meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.

Meal Ideas

 “Simply Delicious: Meals from Farm & Garden,” on Thursday, Sept. 12 from  4 to 5 p.m. Facilitator: Allyson Wyman, Nutrition Program Educator, Cornell Cooperative Extension Schoharie and Otsego counties. Schoharie Library. Register online or at 518-295-7127.

Storytime

Storytime returns to the Schoharie Library every Friday at 10 a.m. starting Sept. 13.  Themes: Sept. 13, Welcome Back!; Sept. 20, Happy Birthday, Author Jan Thomas; Sept. 27, “Fall”; and Oct. 4,  Cars & Trucks. Stories, crafts, games, and more! Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Read to a Dog

Read with Ariel on  Fridays, Sept. 13 and  27, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.. Reading to a therapy dog is a fun way for kids to enhance reading skills! 

Training with Narcan

Responding to Opioid Overdose on  Monday, Sept. 16, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The  New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services is offering this free training in the use of naloxone, with the brand name Narcan, to reverse suspected overdoses in New York counties.

Participants will learn to recognize, respond to and reverse a suspected opioid overdose using naloxone. Sponsored by the Schoharie Library and  Scho-Wright Ambulance Service. Registration required, 518-295-7127. 

Writing Club

Join us for Writing Club on Mondays, Sept. 16 and 30, from 6 to 8 p.m.Writers of all ages are welcome! Bring your fiction, non-fiction, poetry, etc. to share, discuss and critique. Meets first, third and   sometimes fifth Mondays.

Writing Conference

“The Write Stuff” Writing Conference on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 1p.m. with keynote speaker: author Coleen Paratore; video Q&A with fantasy author Elizabeth Bear. Panel discussion followed by a light lunch. Free program.
