Schoharie Library Notes for Wednesday, September 7, 2022

The Schoharie Library is open on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.; on Thursday from noon to 7 p.m.; and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

We’re are currently offering these programs:

— Story time with Miss Yvonne: Fridays at 10 a.m. Stories, songs, fun activities! Aug. 12 theme: Pirates;

— Writing Club (Virtual): Mondays at 6:30 p.m. https://bit.ly/SchoharieLibraryPrograms;

— Virtual UFO Club: Thursdays, Sept. 8 and 22, 10am. Work on projects and chat. Signup: https://bit.ly/SchoharieLibraryPrograms;

— Local Author Book Fair, Annual Book Sale & Trustees Treasures on the Porch: Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Meet local authors, check out their latest books 9a.m. to 3 p.m.! Local authors who wish to participate may sign up at: https://bit.ly/LocalAuthorBookFair. Browse the library’s huge collection of donated books and other items in the lawn sale.  Lawn sale spots available for a $15 donation.  Please call or stop in to the library to reserve a spot today;

— Middle Grade book group: Begins Monday, Sept. 12, at 4 p.m., meets every two weeks. Youth in third through sixth grades are welcome to join Yvonne and volunteer Joann to read a chapter book each month. We will cover the different genres, reading a book together and discussing it.

The first book is realistic fiction. Anyone interested in participating should complete the signup at https://bit.ly/MGBookGroupSHO so we can request copies of the book for everyone;

— Knitcetera at the Library: Tuesdays, Sept. 13 and 27, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Sew, knit, anything goes;

— Board of Trustees Meeting: Wednesday, Sept. 14, 7 p.m.;

— Books and Chocolate: Wednesday, Sept. 21, 6:30 p.m. Read anything interesting lately? Join us to trade reading ideas and enjoy dessert;

— Community Forum at the Schoharie Library: Join us on Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the library in the Eaton Meeting room, refreshments served. Tell us about your community, dreams and aspirations for the community, and how the library can support the community.

— Embellish your Clothes with Embroidery and Beads with Betty Fikes Pillsbury: Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn how to use needle and thread, beads, embroidery floss, and other decorations to create a unique and beautiful design on clothing or other textiles.
