Schoharie Library Notes for Thursday, August 9, 2018

The Minecraft Club meets at the Schoharie Free Library on Mondays, Aug. 13 and 27, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Build worlds and explore with this popular computer game! Please bring your own iPad, tablet, laptop, or other gaming device. The club meets on second and fourth Mondays of each month; all ages are welcome.

Discovery Tuesday

On Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 10:30 a.m. join us for Discovery Tuesday’s MiSci, Spectacular Spectroscopy. Learn about light and color, how to use a spectroscope, make a rainbow, and more!

Craft Club

Knit, Crochet & Needlework Club meets Tuesdays, Aug. 14 and 28 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Bring a project, start something new, or learn to knit/crochet with this friendly group. Knitting needles, crochet hooks, and yarn are available at the library. The club meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. All ages and abilities are welcome.

Concert

Come enjoy Paula Bradley of Moonshine Holler with Marylou Ferrante, on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a dish of ice cream while listening to this dynamic duo play blues and old-time mountain music! The winners of our Summer Reading grand prize raffles will be picked during the event as well!

Join us at Camp

A Wrinkle in Time Camp runs through Aug. 17. Explore the world of A Wrinkle in Time through online activities at home, and hands-on activities at the library. Make a clay model of a character, design an alien planet, create a quilt collage, and more! Library sessions will be held through Aug. 15, Mondays and Tuesdays, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Wednesdays, 10 to 11:30 a.m. These times are tentative, and we will do our best to accommodate participants' schedules. Copies of the book are available at the library, so participants can read the book before starting camp. Summer Reading Program Signup

There's still time! This summer’s theme is “Libraries Rock!” Win prizes for reading, plus enter in the drawing for the grand prize! Everyone who reads 20 hours gets a free book! Sign-ups are available until Tuesday, Aug. 14, and you get some cool stuff just for signing up! Plus you can sign up online at http://scho-harie.beanstack.org/ You can keep track of your reading and find out about other books you might like, and more! It's a great way to enhance your summer reading, as well as keep up with your reading log even if you're out of town. Then come back and visit the library to pick out a prize!

Writing Club

Monday, August 20 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. writers of all ages are welcome to the Writing Club.  Bring your fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or any other type of writing to share, discuss, and critique. The Writing Club meets on the first and third Mondays of each month.

Concert

Music & Poetry on the Porch on Thursday, Aug. 30 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Peter Enders will open with a fun, lively sing-along, then everyone’s invited to share songs, music, and poetry! Weather permitting, we’ll be on the porch; otherwise, in the front room. Refreshments will be served.
