Schoharie Library Notes for Wednesday, June 9, 2021

The next meeting of the Schoharie Library Board of Trustees is Wednesday, June 9, at 7 p.m.

Library Programs

The library is offering virtual programs  contact to sign up:

— Online Storytime: Fridays, June 11 and 18 at 10 a.m.;

— Writing Club: Mondays, June 14, 21 and 28 at 6:30 p.m.;

     — Zoom: Basics and Troubleshooting: Monday, June 14, 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Tips for improving your Zoom meeting experience and using some of the available features;

     — Write, Edit, Publish! Wednesday, June 16, 6:30 p.m. online. Author Beth Worsdell will present readings from her fiction. Then she’ll teach about the process of writing, identifying your audience and keeping them in mind, beta readers, publishing, marketing your work, and more. Q & A session to follow. This event is funded in part by Poets & Writers with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature;

— UFO (Unfinished Object) Club online: Thursday, June 17, 10 a.m.; and

— Computer Gaming - Keeping Kids Safe: Wednesday, June 23, 6:30 p.m. We will discuss parental controls, privacy settings, and ways to tell your kids to look out for online predators. We will also discuss how to mitigate Cyberbullying and prevention techniques. Facilitators: Aneesa Hussain and Ajran Hussain.

In-person Programs:

 — Books & Chocolate: Tuesday, June 15, 6:30 p.m. Chat about books you enjoy, get ideas for books you might like to check out! A chocolate dessert will be served;

     — Celebrate Summer Reading with The Rubber Band:** Tuesday, June 22, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the library lawn. Enjoy hot Cajun music and dancing with this popular local band! We’ll also have children’s activities; and

— Life Drawing Classes: Thursdays, June 24, July 1, 8 and 15, 6 to 8 p.m. on the library lawn. Learn how to draw the human figure with a live (lightly clothed) model! Ages 10 - adult, all abilities welcome. Registration is appreciated as class size is limited.
