Schoharie Library Notes for Thursday, April 30, 2020

Although the Schoharie Library is still closed and our in-person activities are canceled or postponed, we’re holding clubs and activities for children and adults online! Check our Facebook Events for more information and updates.

To sign up to receive a link for online programs, contact or click the link to the sign-up sheet on our website, schoharielibrary.org, or on our Facebook page. All online programs require a sign-up.

Here’s what we have scheduled so far:

— Online Kids’ Fun Hour: Wednesday, April 29, 3 p.m. We’ll do a living-room obstacle course, craft, and/or other activity using common household items like cans or bottles, toilet-paper tubes, paper, glue, paint, crayons, tape, yarn or string;

— How to Use Zoom: Thursday, April 30, 10:30 a.m. Get more savvy with video, microphone, screen-sharing, hosting a meeting, adjusting privacy or security settings, and more;

— Online Story Time with Miss Heather: Fridays at 10 a.m. Interactive stories, songs, and activities are offered. Have paper and crayons ready. Remember to sign up ahead to get the link;

— Online Books & Chocolate Book Chat: Sunday, May 3, 6:30 p.m. Join us in cyberspace to talk about books you’ve enjoyed and share ideas for future reading. You’ll have to provide your own chocolate for now — maybe we can share recipes, too;

— Online Writing Club: Every Monday at 6 p.m. you have a great chance to share and discuss your work with other writers;

— Online Tech Help: Wednesdays, May 6, 13, 20, and 27, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Do you have questions about using a program, taking out e-books, creating a document or spreadsheet, or anything else related to basic computer use? Check in with us and we’ll do our best to help! E-mail for an appointment.

This project is supported by funds from the New York State Library’s Adult Literacy Library Services Program.;

— Online “UFO” Unfinished Object Club, Thursdays,  May 7 and 21, at 3 p.m. It’s always easier to work on a project when you’ve got company! Maybe we'll even finish something;

— Online Knitcetera Club: Tuesdays, May 12 and 26, 10:30 a.m. Share knitting, crocheting, quilting, and embroidery projects; catch up with friends, enjoy some connection;

— Take the Marble Run Challenge! Use whatever is lying around your house to make a marble run, then share a photo or video of it with us on Facebook. See how long you can make it, and which marbles work best.
