Schoharie Library Notes for Thursday, February 14, 2019
The Schoharie Library will be hosting a series for anyone who is looking for a job, considering changing careers, or in the process of deciding on a career direction. This will include three workshops and several one-on-one career coaching or résumé editing sessions, all free of charge. The facilitator is Marsha Lazarus, a career coach with a master’s degree in business administration.
Part 1, “Getting Unstuck, Moving Forward in Your Career,” will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Individual career coaching sessions will be available from noon to 1 p.m., by appointment.
Part 2 will be held Saturday, March 9, also from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., and will focus on connecting with people who can open doors and network. One-on-one sessions will be available from noon to 1 p.m., by appointment.
More individual career coaching sessions will be available on Thursday, March 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., by appointment only.
“Finding the Career Direction that Fits” will be held on Monday, April 15, from 6 to 7:15 p.m. This is geared toward young adults and those new to the workforce. One-on-one sessions will be available afterward by appointment.

Marsha Lazarus has been a Capital Region workforce development professional for nearly 30 years. After many years as the director of Workforce Development with the Mental Health Association in New York State, she now devotes herself full-time to career coaching and training through her organization, “Your Career Matters: Find That Right Fit.”
She has established an extensive network of human-resources professionals and individuals working in a wide range of industries, which is a great asset in helping job seekers to connect to a wide range of job options.
Ms. Lazarus writes, “I am interested in getting to know people and understanding what makes them unique ... I strive to foster within each person the ability to more fully recognize their strengths and what excites them. “

The Schoharie Library is happy to share that we have been chosen again by the Hannaford store located at Route 20 in Esperance as a beneficiary of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program! This means for every Community Bag purchased at the Esperance Hannaford during the month of March, we will receive $1. Help the Schoharie Library and the environment at the same time!
Gracie
Read with Gracie on Thursdays, Feb. 14, 21 and 28, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Gracie loves a good story, especially when it’s about a dog! Come snuggle with Gracie during special after-school storytimes with Vanessa Repicky on February 21 and 28. She’s a friendly goldendoodle therapy dog, and all are welcome to stop in and visit her.
Storytime
Storytime with Vanessa Repicky on Fridays at 10 a.m.: Feb. 15: Shapes and patterns; Feb. 22: to be determined; and March 1: Dr. Seuss. All ages are welcome to join us for stories, music, crafts, and games. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Book Pre-launch Party
On Saturday, Feb. 16, from noon to 1 p.m. we’re celebrating the release of the spy/mystery thriller Parabellum, written by local author John Mullins, aka Jack Nanuq. This is a great chance to talk with the author and get your book signed! Refreshments will be served.
Holiday
On Monday, Feb. 18, the Schoharie Library will be closed in honor of Presidents’ Day.
Fun Day
On Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Join us for games, puzzles and activities. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. All are welcome!
Cyber Safety
On Monday, Feb. 25, from 6 to 7 p.m. learn how to protect your privacy and sensitive data with facilitator: John Borst, Cybersecurity Awareness & Training Unit, NYS Office of Information Technology Services.
Knitcetera Club
On Tuesday, Feb. 26, 10:30 a.m. to noon bring a yarn, quilting, or embroidery project, start something new, or learn to knit/crochet with this friendly group. Knitting needles, crochet hooks, yarn, and fabric are available at the library. The club meets the second and forth Tuesdays of each month. All ages and abilities are welcome.
Writing Club
On Mondays, March 4 and 18, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. writers of all ages are welcome to bring fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or any other type of writing to share, discuss, and critique.
Read to a dog
Read with Ariel on Friday, March 8, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Ariel is a sweet therapy dog who loves to have children read to her; reading to a dog is a great way for kids to gain confidence and proficiency.
