Schoharie Library Notes for Wednesday, February 10, 2021

The Schoharie Free Library remains open to properly-masked, socially-distanced visitors during its regular hours: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday from noon to 7 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Details and community resources are at www.SchoharieLibrary.org.

February is Black History Month and the library is celebrating Black authors whose works span a range of styles and genres. Check our Facebook page every afternoon this month to learn about a new featured author.

We’ve recently received over 100 new audiobooks on CD. Come check out the new titles on our recently reorganized audiobook shelves.

All our regularly scheduled programs are currently meeting online via Zoom. Here’s what we have scheduled for the coming week:

— Attend our Interactive Story Time with Miss Heather on Friday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m. for stories, crafts, songs, and more;

— The next meeting of our Writing Club will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15. Newcomers are welcome. Come to read something you’ve written or just listen and offer feedback to other local writers;

— Sally Ziegler will return for a new craft program at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Miss Sally will discuss different textiles from around the world with a focus on African fabrics including Kente cloth and Mud cloth. Participants will create a paper weaving inspired by the Kente cloth as well as a paper example of Mud cloth using simple stamping and coloring. Register in advance and visit the library to pick up a take-and-make kit with required supplies; and

— At 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, join our “Books & Chocolate” club to discuss what you’ve been reading lately and both give and get recommendations.

To sign up for any of these programs, contact or visit our Facebook events page.
