The Schoharie Free Library is excited to announce that it has added six new Family Engagement STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) kits to the collection. These reusable take-home packs get kids solving problems like real engineers!
The packs include everything families need to complete a hands-on activity that introduces each exciting engineering occupation. Plus, they come with a STEM career brochure, a challenge card, and simple instructions in English and Spanish — so busy families can jump right in!
The kits help develop skills in problem-solving; perseverance; cause and effect; and the design process for the computer, transportation, aerospace, mechanical, architectural, and civil engineering fields. The kits are recommended for kids who are 4 to 7 years old, with adult help. These kits are available to borrow with a library card.
Chair Yoga
Chair Yoga with Venus Louise is offered Thursdays, Feb. 6 and 13 at 1:30 p.m. Improve muscle tone and reduce stress with gentle stretches and twists, breathing and relaxation exercises!
Storytime
Storytime with Miss Heather is every Friday at 10 a.m.! Stories, crafts, games, and more! Themes: Feb. 7, Mo Willems author’s Birthday; Feb. 14, Getting Mail; Feb. 21, SPECIAL: 10:30 a.m., “Once Upon a Mattress” Musical Preview; Feb. 28, Dr. Seuss Author Birthday. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Read with Ariel
Reading to a friendly therapy dog is a fun way for children to gain confidence! Join us on Fridays, Feb. 7 and 21 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Raffle
Enter to win our beautiful “Paris in the Rain” quilted wall hanging, made and donated by Patricia Guzzardo! Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5, available at the circulation desk. All sales benefit the Schoharie Library. Drawing to be held on February 11 during the Make a Valentine party.
Knitcetera Club
On Tuesdays, Feb. 11 and 25, at 10:30 a.m. join us to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt with a fun, creative group!
Make a Valentine
On Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. get creative with our colored papers, stickers, sequins, and other fun stuff! Enjoy delicious refreshments, including a chocolate fondue fountain. The winner of the “Paris in the Rain” quilt will be announced.
Library closed
The Schoharie Library will be closed on Monday, Feb. 17 in celebration of Presidents Day.
Fun Day
On Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. play games and get creative with friends at the library! Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
