Schoharie Library Notes for Thursday, January 3, 2019

Vanessa Repicky leads a story time at the Schoharie Library every Friday at 10 a.m. The themes for this month are: Jan. 4, Penguins and Polar Bears; Jan.11, “The Mitten”; and Jan. 18, Shark Week.

All ages are welcome to join us for stories, music, crafts, and games. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Writing Club

Writing Club meets Monday, Jan. 7, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. If you like to write, and you want to share and discuss writing with others, this group is for you!

Handiwork

Knit, Crochet & Needlework Club will meet by Tuesdays, Jan. 8 and 22 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Bring a project, start something new, or learn to knit or crochet with this friendly group. Knitting needles, crochet hooks, and yarn are available at the library. The club meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. All ages and abilities are welcome.

Market yourself

Social Media Marketing 101 meets on Thursday, Jan. 10, at 6 p.m. Learn how to promote your book, business, organization, events, or products using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more!

Sarah McFadden of Rensselaer County Cornell Cooperative Extension will make the presentation.

Read to a dog

Read with Gracie on Thursdays, Jan. 10 and 24, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Gracie loves a good story, especially when a young friend reads to her. She’s a friendly goldendoodle therapy dog, and all are welcome to stop in and visit her.

Read with Ariel on Friday, Jan. 18, from 3:30 to 4:30pm. Ariel is a sweet therapy dog who loves to have children read to her; everyone is invited to spend time with her.

Learn all about maple syrup on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 10:30 a.m.

Have you ever wondered how maple syrup is made? Tapping trees and boiling sap are a great way to beat the late-winter blahs. Learn about this fun hobby from backyard boilers Bob and Alyson Montione! Maple refreshments will be provided.

Minecraft Club will be on break for the winter, and will meet again in March.

The Schoharie Library will be closed on Monday, Jan. 21, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
