Middleburgh Library Notes for Friday, December 27, 2013

On Saturday, Dec. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. come to the Middleburgh Library for Star Wars Gaming Day. Local gamers, Jeremy Strickland and Mal Martin, will be teaching the new Star Wars miniature tabletop game to young and old alike.  This event is for ages 8 and above. Pre-registration is necessary as only a limited amount of spots will be available for play. There will be pizza and prizes. Registration is required.

Story time

On Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 10:45 a.m., get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. We'll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Holiday schedule

On Tuesday, Dec. 31, the library hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. No evening hours due to the holiday. Then on Jan. 1, New Years Day, the library will be closed.

Knitting Circle

On Thursday, Jan 2, at 7 p.m. at the library the ladies (men are welcome, but we have not seen any yet!) of the Knitting Circle knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here, share your own special talents with others, or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.

Concert

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m., join us for a reading of local play write Phil Potok's newest play Heir Apparent.  It is the story of two late 50s something brothers dealing with co-executorship of their late father's estate.  While going through paperwork more is revealed than they bargained for. Tickets are available at the door.  A $10 donation is suggested.  Please use back entrance.

Wellness fair

On Saturday, Jan. 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the library will be hosting its first ever wellness fair. We will have over 20 vendors available all day with a ton of information on healthy eating, smoking cessation, exercise and mental health. Join us for demonstrations, samples and giveaways. There will also be a drawing to benefit the library with many health related prizes. There will be something for everyone.
