Middleburgh Library Notes for Thursday, December 15, 2016

On Monday, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. join us for the adult coloring club. Come and experience the latest trend in relaxation, adult coloring books. Coloring pages designed especially for adults as well as colored pencils will be provided. This will be a recurring program. We will meet every third Monday of the month at 2 p.m. Registration is required.  

Story time

On Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 10:45 a.m. get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children up to age 5 and their caregivers. We'll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong

On Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 1 p.m. men and women are invited to the library for a get together in the community room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? They will teach you how. No problem. No registration is required.

 Insight meditation

On Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 5:15 p.m. join us for a simple group Zazen meditation practice.  All are welcome. No registration is required.

Book discussion

On Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. join us for a discussion of "In the Dark, Dark, Wood" by Ruth Ware.   What should be a cozy and fun-filled weekend deep in the English countryside takes a sinister turn in Ruth Ware's suspenseful, compulsive, and darkly twisted debut psychological thriller. Books may be picked up at the circulation desk. No registration required.

Discovery Wednesdays

On Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. join Miss Doreen as she welcomes children ages 3 to 6 to her story time. Lots of fun with stories, songs, fingerplays and a craft.  No registration required.

Wednesday matinee

On Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. come enjoy a movie and free popcorn. The movie is  "Into the White" rated PG-13.  In World War II, the German pilots Lieutenant Horst Schopis, Josef Schwartz and Wolfgang Strunk crash their airplane in the wilderness of Norway after shooting down a British airplane. They walk through a snow storm until they reach shelter in an abandoned hunter cabin. Soon the British pilot Captain Charles P. Davenport and the gunner Robert Smith arrive in the cabin and they become prisoners of the German pilots. However, after the initial friction between the enemies, they realize that they should team-up to survive in the wilderness in the beginning of an improbable friendship. No registration required.

 Knitting circle

On Thursday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. the friendly ladies knit and crochet, embroider, and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.
