Middleburgh Library Notes for Thursday, December 6, 2018

Teens can drop in for snacks and gaming at the Middleburgh Library on Dec. 10 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. We’ll have games like King of Tokyo, Castle Panic, Sapien, Boss Monster, Forbidden Island, and Evolution.

Drop in for a half-hour or stay the whole time! This program is for kids ages 13 and up. Registration is suggested but not required. Call, stop in, or sign up online.

Board meets

On Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m. the Board of Trustees will meet. The public is welcome.

Storytime

On Dec. 11,  join us for Drop-In Storytime. Get ready to move in this interactive storytime designed especially for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. We'll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration required.

Mahjong Mania

On Dec. 11  at 1 p.m., a spirited group of people will get together in the Middleburgh Library Community Room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.

Insight Meditation

On Dec. 11, at 5:15 p.m. join us for Insight Meditation. What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators', teens to seniors so give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.

Storytime

On Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. come enjoy Storytime with Miss Doreen. The theme is  "What's the scent".

Movie

On Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. join us for a showing of "Alpha" rated PG-13. In the prehistoric past, a young man struggles to return home after being separated from his tribe during a buffalo hunt. He finds a similarly lost wolf companion and starts a friendship that would change humanity. No registration required. Free popcorn!

Yoga

On Dec. 12, from 5 to 6 p.m. join Yoga Classes with Deb  - Akhanda Yoga. Follow along with Vishva Ji video. This is on the second Wednesday of each month. The cost is by donation and the donations go to the library. Please use back entrance as the library is closed that evening.

Tai Chi

On Dec. 14 from 10 to 11 a.m. join Earl O'Bryan for Tai Chi and Qigong, from China. It is the cultivation of human energy. Gentle slow movements, strengthen the body and calm the mind. These practices have been used for agility, balance, cognition and longevity. Suggested donation is $5. Please use back entrance as the library is closed on Fridays.

Christmas Tea

On Dec. 15 from noon to 3 p.m. enjoy a Victorian Christmas Tea at the Dr. Best House & Museum - Join us for a fun filled afternoon of sweets, savories, tea, entertainment and fun. The beautiful Dr Best House will be dressed up in her holiday finest and the table will be full of goodies for all. Entrance is by donation.
