Middleburgh Library Notes for Wednesday, December 4, 2019
The Middleburgh Library Board of Trustees will meet on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to atend the meeting and should use the library’s back door to enter.
Storytime
On Dec. 10 at 10:45 a.m. come to Drop-in Storytime. This fun and interactive program is meant for children ages 0 to 5 and their caregivers, although older siblings are always welcome! We read books, sing songs, play games, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required!
Mahjong Mania
On Dec. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 1 p.m. join a spirited group of people get together in the Community Room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how. No registration required.
Qi Dong
On Dec. 10 from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. come to the library for Qi Gong a Chinese healing practice, incorporating breath and gentle movement to create a free flow of energy throughout the body. Wear loose clothing.
Insight Meditation
On Dec. 10 at 5:15 p.m. join us for Insight Meditation. What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in day-dreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators', teens to seniors. give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.
Book Discussion
On Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. join us to discuss "Transcriptions" by Kate Atkinson. During WWII, Juliet Armstrong was conscripted into service as a young woman, transcribing conversations between an MI5 agent and a ring of suspected German sympathizers. Years later, in 1950 post-war London, Julie can't escape the repercussions of her work for the government, and is pulled back into the life of espionage she thought she'd left behind.
Open House
On Dec. 14 from noon to 3 p.m. A Best House Christmas Open House. Join us for a fun filled afternoon of sweets, savories, music and more at A Best House Christmas Open House. The Dr. Best House Museum will be dressed up in her holiday finest and the table will be full of goodies for all ages. Entrance by donation.
