Middleburgh Library Notes for Friday, September 23, 2016

With the wonderful rebuilding in Middleburgh, the library’s History Room is starting a display of how things were. You may have relics of various types that signify the past; used by your grandparents, or a former area business and of course, local pictures. All donors will be acknowledged and items returned.

Story time

On Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 10:45 a.m. get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children up to age 5 and their caregivers. We'll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong

On Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. men and women are invited to the library for a get together in the community room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem. No registration is required.

Insight meditation

On Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 5:15 p.m. join us for a simple group Zazen meditation practice.  All are welcome.  No registration is required.

Chair yoga

On Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 9 a.m. join us for chair yoga with Vicki DeGroff. Donation for the class is $5. Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. Please use back entrance.

Discovery Wednesdays

On Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. our Discovery Wednesdays program will take place. Join Miss Doreen as she welcomes children ages 3 to 6 to her story time. Lots of fun with stories, songs, fingerplays and a craft. No registration required.

Artist of the month

On Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. come and enjoy Artist of the Month with Joanne Resch.  The principles of design, composition, drawing, color, and watercolor will be viewed through a specific artist’s style which will be used as inspiration for an art project. For elementary-aged children and teens.  Registration is required.

This program series is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. Sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Library System and participating member libraries. All programs are free. Materials will be provided. Participating libraries are accessible for people with disabilities.

Essential oils

On Thursday, Sept. 29 from 8 to 9 p.m. join us for DoTerra Essential Oils,  sponsored by Anne Strauch.  Join Anne and learn about how essential oils can benefit you and the lives of your family.

Paranormal society

On Thursday, Sept. 29 from 7 to 8 p.m. come and join the Tri-City New York Paranormal Society lecture. We will reveal possible paranormal evidence that has been captured around our local area. We'll also reveal some of the EVP's that have been captured at the Dr. Christopher Best Medical Museum right down the road. This program is free and open to the public. No registration required.
