Mahjong mania
On Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m., men and women are invited to come learn the game of Mahjong at the library. No experience is necessary; just a willingness to learn and have fun. No registration is necessary.
Preschool science
On Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. join us for Start with Science. This program is for preschoolers ages three to five. They will learn about basic science through stories and hands on science activities. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.
Climate change
On Thursday, Sept. 25, from 7 to 8 p.m., Stephen Pekar, a geology professor at Queens College, will discuss climate change. He has been investigating past climate and oceanographic changes during times (16-45 million years ago) when CO2 was as high as what is predicted for this century (500-1000 ppm). As CO2 is rising rapidly today, which is predicted to be like putting our climate on a “hot plate”, exploring these times for him is like “Looking Back to Our Future”.
Knitting Circle
On Thursday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m., the friendly ladies knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.
