Middleburgh Library Notes for Wednesday, July 17, 2019

Zach Stevenson will perform at the Middleburgh Library on July 21 at 4 p.m.

Named one of the top 10 talents to watch by the Vancouver Sun, Stevenson is an accomplished singer, songwriter, actor, and multi-instrumentalist. With a bachelor of fine arts degree in theater, he has been featured both as an actor and musician in major theaters and concert venues across North America.

Tickets are available at the door. A $10 donation is suggested. Please use the library’s back entrance.

Mahjong Mania

On July 22, from 1:30 to 5 p.m.  the Mahjong Mania group meets. During July and August, Mahjong meets on Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. A spirited group of people get together in the Community Room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play?  No problem! They will teach you how. No registration is required.  

Star Wars Roleplaying Game  

Join us on July 22 at 2 p.m. for this game where the galaxy has been torn apart by a civil war. In this fast paced, adventurous, and fun rpg, you take the part of a rebel soldier struggling against the epic might of the Galactic Empire. Do you have what it takes to restore peace to the galaxy?  This program is appropriate for kids going into sixth grade.

Drop-in Storytime

On July 23, at 10:45 a.m. come enjoy this fun and interactive program  meant for children ages 0 to 5 and their caregivers, although older siblings are always welcome! We read books, sing songs, play games, dance and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required! 

Fun with Fibers

On July 23, at 1 p.m. join the fun and weave a circular wall hanging for your room, felt a little pouch, and experience weaving on a floor loom to create a collaborative piece for the library. These are some of the things we will be doing in the Fun With Fibers Class this summer. A variety of yarns, rovings and other materials will be used in these projects, along with weaving and felting techniques. This program  is appropriate for kids going into sixth grade.

Insight Meditation 

On July 23  at 5:15 p.m. join us for Insight Meditation. What do you want most deeply Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this. Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in day-dreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts. Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience. We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators', teens to seniors.  give it a try. No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome. 

Support Group

On July 23 from 6:20 to 7:30 p.m. join the Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group. This program is open to anyone caring for an Alzheimer's patient.

Flight

On July 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. come enjoy Take Flight. How do birds fly? Why can’t we? Can a bubble fly in outer space? What’s the best shape for a wing? In this fun, hands-on program, kids will use feathers, paper, balloons, and bubbles to learn about concepts of flight. Students will design their own gliders and mini-helicopters to explore the properties of things that fly.  Registration is required. This program is for kids going into grades 1 to 4.

Teen Shrinky Dink 

On July 24 at 2 p.m.  join us as we experiment with shrinky dink paper. Make a charm for a bracelet, key chain or just to hang from your backpack!  This program is for Teens going into sixth grade and up. Registration is required. 

Preschool Films

On July 25 at 11 a.m. join us for four short award winnings stories:  Robot Zot, This is the House that Jack Built, Trashy Town and Stars! Stars! Stars! that will sure delight your preschooler. Stay for one or all four! Snacks will be provided. This program is for kids going into pre-school through kindergarten.  Registration is required.

Woven Blooms

On July 25 at 1 p.m. join us in the fun and create a bright and cheerful flower using a pre-cut flower shapes, markers, yarn and beads. These one of a kind creations will look great hung up in your room or house, or be a sweet gift to someone needing some cheer.  This program is appropriate for kids going into kindergarten through third grade.

Starfinder 

Join us on July 25 at 1 p.m. for Starfinder  a sci-fi based role playing game, similar to dungeons and dragons. Players will have the option to use pre-generated characters or create their own.  Space is limited and registration is required. This program is for kids going into sixth grade and up.

On July 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. stop in and check out our huge book sale. Something for everyone.  You won't be disappointed. Books, Audio Books, DVD's.
