Middleburgh Library Notes for Wednesday, July 2, 2014

On Monday, July 7, at 2 p.m., The Middleburgh Library’s Spark a Reaction is Read & Feed. We'll be making some tacos and other snacks to share while we talk about the books we've been reading, or your favorite movie. Bring any books you might like to share. This program is for kids going into grades six and up.  Registration is required. 

Story time

On July 8, at 10:45 a.m., join us at the library for drop-in story time. Get ready to move in this interactive story time designed especially for children up to age six and their caregivers. We'll read books, sing songs, recite fingerplays, dance, and watch a short movie based on a weekly theme. No registration is required.

Mahjong Mania

On Tuesday, July 8, at 1 p.m., men and women are invited to come learn the game of Mahjong. No experience necessary; just a willingness to learn and have fun. No registration is necessary.

Predator and prey

On July 8, at 2 p.m., join us for Fizz, Boom, Read – “Predators & Prey Wildlife Show.” Come see live birds of prey, reptiles and mammals as we discover the relationship between predator and prey and their adaptations for survival and role in nature. Appropriate for all ages.

Computer help

On Wednesday, July 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the library will offer computer help. Do you need help with simple tasks on the computer?  Make an appointment for semi-private instruction with a computer help specialist.  You'll have an hour to ask questions and have hands on instruction.  Call now for an appointment at 827-5142.  Registration is required.

Kundalini Yoga

On Wednesday, July 9, at 5 p.m., join us for Kundalini Yoga. This program involves repetitive movements with the breath, building strength, toning the nerves and clearing the adrenal glands.  Wear comfortable clothing, and bring two blankets or a mat and blanket. A $5 donation is requested. Use the back entrance when entering the building. No registration is required.

Watercolor and

salt painting

On Wednesday, July 9, at 1 p.m., enjoy Fizz, Boom, Read – “The Magic of Watercolor & Salt Painting” You'll be amazed as you watch your watercolor and salt painting morph before your eyes. This program is presented by The Studio for Art & Craft and is appropriate for all ages. Younger children will need help from an adult.  Registration is required.

Library meeting

On Wednesday, July 9, at 6:30 p.m., the Committee for Sustainable Library Funding will meet.

Melted plastic mobile

On Thursday, July 10, at 1 p.m., enjoy Spark a Reaction – “Melted Plastic Mobile,” at the library. We'll be using clear plastic cups, coloring them with sharpie markers and melting them in the oven to create cool glass like discs to make into a mobile for your room.  This program is for kids in grades six and up.  Registration is required.  

Knitting Circle

On Thursday, July 10, at 7 p.m., the friendly ladies of the Knitting Circle meet to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required

Concert

On Tuesday, July 15, at 7 p.m., the library presents Sonny & Perley. Sonny Daye and Perley Rousseau achieve a rare musical symbiosis. The husband and wife team have spent the last several years developing and perfecting their unique blend of Jazz, Brazilian Bossa Nova, and international cabaret, which has become their musical signature. Tickets are available at the door.  A $10 donation is suggested.  Please use back entrance.
