Middleburgh Library Notes for Monday, June 18, 2018

Do you need a relaxing activity to melt away stress?  Join our Color Me Calm Adult Coloring Club on June 18 at 2 p.m. This program allows adults to create wonderful pictures and offers a fun and unique way to unwind and express creativity. Plus, it can actually lower stress!  Please note that this is not a structured program. Drop-in and color at your leisure. Materials will be provided. No registration required.

Mahjong

Every Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m., including on June 19, a spirited group of people get together in the Community Room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? No problem! They will teach you how.  No registration is required.

Insight Meditation

Join us on June 19 at 5:15 p.m. for Insight Meditation.

What do you want most deeply? Seeing your life calmly and clearly helps answer this.

Insight Meditation is a simple way to steady your mind, stop wandering in daydreams, and end the suffering of troubling thoughts.

Our group is a place to sit quietly in safety, supported by others; to allow understanding and compassion to arise; to encourage loving-kindness and patience.

We welcome those with no experience to advanced mediators, teens to seniors. Give it a try.  No registration is required. There is no fee. All are welcome.

Book discussion

On June 19, at 7 p.m. join us to discuss  "My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry" by Fredrik Backman, author of  "A Man Called Ove". Elsa is seven years old and different. Her grandmother is seventy-seven years old and crazy—as in standing on the balcony firing paintball guns at strangers crazy. She is also Elsa’s best, and only, friend. At night Elsa takes refuge in her grandmother’s stories, in the Land-of-Almost-Awake and the Kingdom of Miamas, where everybody is different and nobody needs to be normal. This book discussion will be facilitated by Susan Oringal.

This program series is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. Sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Library System and participating member libraries.

Knitting Circle

Friendly ladies (men are welcome, but we haven’t seen any yet!) knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more on thursdays at the library. Come on June 21 at 7 p.m.

You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others — or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime! No registration is required.

Summer reading program

From June 23 to 30 come register for  "Libraries Rock" the Summer Reading Program.  Registration will be held in the Community Room. Be sure to sign your child up for some great and fun programs.
