Middleburgh Library Notes for Friday, June 16, 2017

On Monday, June 19 from 1:30 to 8:30 p.m. registration for the summer reading program begins.

Adult coloring

On Monday, June 19 at 2 p.m. come and experience the latest trend in relaxation, adult coloring books. Studies how coloring can have a calming effect on the adult mind and helps promote overall wellness. Coloring pages designed especially for adults as well as colored pencils will be provided.   This will be a recurring program. We will meet every third Monday of the month at 2 p.m.   Registration is required.  

Teen volunteers

On Monday, June 19 at 6:30 p.m. come to the Summer Reading Teen Volunteer Orientation meeting in the community room for an information meeting to learn what it’s all about. Do you need community service hours? Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity? If you cannot make the meeting, call the library at 827-5142 or stop in and speak to the director. We're looking forward to a summer full of fun.

Mahjong

On Tuesday, June 20, at 1 p.m. men and women are invited to the library for a get together in the community room to play Mahjong. Don't know how to play? They will teach you how. No problem. No registration is required.

Insight meditation

On Tuesday, June 20, at 5:15 p.m. join us for a simple group Zazen meditation practice. All are welcome.  No registration is required.  

Matinee

On Wednesday, June 21 at 1 p.m. join us for free popcorn and the movie "Ghostbusters"  rated PG-13.

Knitting circle

On Thursday, June 22 at 7 p.m. the friendly ladies knit and crochet, embroider, and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.    

Concert

On Thursday, June 22 at 7 p.m. join us for  "Durham County Poets". Durham County Poets are from the Chateauguay Valley located in Quebec, Canada. Their influences are varied, from blues to folk, from jazz to gospel, with elements of the Band, James Taylor, Jimmy Reed, even some Leon Redbone. Each member brings a different musical background to the band that marries into a sound that has been labeled as soulful folk. Check out their music at their website.

No reservations are required. Tickets are available at the door.  A $10 donation is suggested.

Book discussion

On Saturday, June 24 at 7 p.m. join us for a NYSCA Book Discussion of "A Gentleman in Moscow" by Amor Towels with Mary Cuffe-Petez acting as facilitator.

Cooking by the Vegan Book

On Saturday, June 24 at 1 p.m. the Middleburgh Library presents its monthly book club, "Cooking by the Vegan Book." We pick the cookbook, you pick and make the recipe. The book club is free and open to the public. How the cookbook club works; every month, a cookbook will be selected and will be at the circulation  desk, for you to pick at and we will print up the recipe of your choice. Sign up online or at the circulation desk, let us know what you're cooking so we don't have duplicates. Registration is required.
